Thursday, 07 May 2009 17:06

The educational institution "Madrasa Imam Muhammad Wazzani" for traditional formation of Huffaz is located on the Catalan Island of Mallorca and has been educating young men since the year 2000 when it was established.

The staff and the students at the Madrasa are once again proud to announce that one of their students has completed his first "sulka", the complete memorisation of the Qur'anu'l-Karim. This student is Umar Bassa from Durban, South Africa, who has been studying for almost three years in the Madrasa "Imam Muhammad Wazzani". The 18-year-old student is the sixth young man to complete the memorisation at the Madrasa since its foundation. Students at the Madrasa memorise the Qur'an using the traditional form of oral transmission directly to the student from the teacher who in turn has been transmitted by his own teacher, and so on, reaching back to the first community of Muslims, the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and the Prophet himself.
