The EMU Foundation, a founding member of the UNIW, participated at the General Assembly on 1st of June 2009, held in the headquarters of the Ansar Foundation.

On the same day, the seventh Council Meeting of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) was also held under the presidency of Secretary General Necmi Sadıkoğlu.

On 11th April 2009 the President of the EMU Foundation, Mr. Abu Bakr Rieger participated at a commemoration ceremony for the Honorary President of the EMU Foundation, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Yalcintas.

The celebration was organised by the Municipality of the City of Istanbul and the Association of Economists. Prof. Dr. Yalcintas has been active as an academician and lecturer for now 50 years and many renowned personalities of Turkish society have been among his students.

Organised by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, in co-operation with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office`s Personal Representative on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims, Ambassador Ömer Orhun, organized a roundtable meeting with around 30 NGOs from different European countries, Canada and the US took place in Vienna on 17 December 2008.

The aim of the meeting was to bring together representatives of NGOs dealing with intolerance and discrimination against Muslims in the OSCE region to discuss youth and education in relation to anti-Muslim attitudes.
