20 Years active service: Humanitarian Organisation "El Hilal"

On 25 April 2012 the Humanitarian Organisation "El Hilal", a member of the EMU celebrated the 20th anniversary of its activities.

The work of the leadership, activists and volunteers of the organisation was presented before numerous guests with a documentary film presenting the activities of the past 20 years.

New EMU member: Association of Arab and Muslim Jurists of Europe

In the month of March 2012, the "Association of Arab and Muslim Jurists of Europe" has joined EMU becoming member on March 28th. The AJEMA, or "Association des Juristes Arabo-Musulmans d’Europe", is a body registered in France that has been active for over 13 years in the field of defense of human rights, defense of Muslim citizens and organizations and civic rights.
The President of the European Muslim Union hereby is pleased to confirm the admission of AJAME, Association des Juristes Arabo-Musulmans d’Europe, as a member of the EMU.

Call for submissions on Hate Crimes to ODIHR

ODIHR is now preparing its 2010 annual report on hate crimes, "Hate Crimes in the OSCE Region: Incidents and Responses".

The annual report provides an overview of data collected on hate crimes, including against Muslims, as well as of responses to combat such offences. It will be launched on International Tolerance Day on 16 November 2011.
4th Seminar at the „Centre for Muslim Women: Zainab bint Yash“ in Granada

On 16th and 17th of January 2010, once again seminars were held in the „Centre for Muslim Women: Zainab bint Yash“ on current issues. While in the last years the topics were around marriage conduct, pregnancy, natural birth giving and education of children, the emphasis this year is on educating ones self and developing virtues.

„Everybody can name some positive qualities which we call virtues and which are appreciated universally. However, we are also recognising that these virtues have almost ceased to be an essential part of the lives of people“ explained one of the organisers of the event.

Call for support
One of the main aims of the EMU Foundation and its members is to improve the infrastructure and the services necessary to improve the quality of life for Muslims in Europe. Education and the acquiring of knowledge is one of the most important elements in this regard.
The EMU Foundation has been since its establishment in close connection with educational institutions and men of knowledge all over Europe, like Faculties of Islamic Studies, School Associations, Muftis and Ulama.
We have been recently presented a project, "The Wazania Academy for Muslim Girls", which aims at establishing an academy for girls and young women which we would like to present also to your attention. The teaching activities of the academy will take place partly in Morocco and partly the UK.
