Germany: Munich Airport opens Muslim Prayer Room in Terminal 1
Thursday, 26 May 2011 20:18
Munich Airport has officially opened a newly completed Muslim prayer room in Terminal 1. Last year alone, routes to the Near East accounted for some 870,000 arriving and departing passengers at Munich Airport, and the traffic continues to increase.

Serving as a gateway to the Middle East is Module C in Terminal 1, where airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways and Oman Air offer flights to major centers in the region.
In addition to signage in German, English and Arabic, the food services in departure area feature halal menu selections. The prayer room now completes the facilities.

The minarets as an integral part of the mosques have been very visible in the European landscape for centuries, going back to the times of Moors in Spain, Ottomans in the Balkans and more recently due to the arrival of migrants and refugees from Muslim countries.

Market and Exhibition in Norwich, Norfolk, UK
Tuesday, 19 May 2009 20:20
The month of May saw a colourful event take place in the city of Norwich, in the East of England. One of the members of the EMU, the Islamic Community of Norwich, in conjunction with the Open Trade Network, a Norwich-based organisation, which aims to promote an alternative model of trade by actively supporting local and independent producers and businesses, organised a two-day market in the city centre. The event was organised on the principle of a free market: stallholders were not charged a fee for space.
